In 2014, thanks to support from the Charles and Lynn Schusterman Family Foundation, the Natan Fund launched Amplifier. Natan members knew well the impact that giving circles could have on both their members and the organizations they supported, and they wanted to help other people to create the same kind of transformational philanthropic experiences for themselves. After a co-design process involving dozens of other organizations, Natan launched Amplifier as a network of giving circles inspired by Jewish values and a backbone to strengthen and expand this burgeoning field.

Since then, Amplifier has grown their network of giving circles to more than 130 and trained thousands of people in collaborative, thoughtful, and values-driven giving. Their resources have been downloaded 58,000 times. They have broadened their work beyond Jewish communities, working with giving circle networks of all kinds across the country, and with a lead grant from the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, they were a proud co-designer and co-founder of Philanthropy Together, a powerful new backbone for and network of American giving circles.

In 2020, Amplifier joined The Jewish Federations of North America (JFNA). This effort, made possible thanks to generous ongoing support from the Charles and Lynn Schusterman Family Foundation, has enabled the new “Amplifier, Powered by Jewish Federations of North America” to reach many more people, incubate many more new ideas, and catalyze much more giving than ever before.
