Natan Next Step Grants

In 2022, as part of our 20th anniversary celebration, we launched a special grant opportunity for past grantees, inviting them to apply for a grant to launch a new program, scale their work to a national audience, expand their work to other cities, or engage a new demographic. Natan's Next Step committee ultimately awarded capacity building funds to three past grantees.

  • Fuente Latina increases support for Israel and confronts antisemitism in Spanish language media. Natan's grant will support the expansion of Fuente Latina's work with a new media brand, Activista Media (AM), which is focused on countering the growing antisemitism among bilingual latinos in America through producing high-quality digital content for non-Jewish Latino audiences. AM is developing content monetization strategies for its digital work, developing a fellowship to Israel for Latino influencers, and expanding their latin-Jewish media alliance with more digital media literacy programs.

  • Jerusalem Intercultural Center (JICC) assists Jerusalem city residents in becoming active and responsible partners to the development of their communities. With a great track record of engaging Palestinians and non-Haredi Jews, JICC is now working to engage the Haredi community—approximately one-third of the city’s population—by making shared public spaces more accessible to young Haredi families, developing neighborhood-based models that will reduce friction and promote conviviality in mixed neighborhoods, providing training courses for Haredi public officials and community leaders, and promoting respectful, participatory dialogue among Haredim and non-Haredim in the public sector.

  • Sinsila is a community hub and incubator in East Jerusalem that is dedicated to educate, inspire, create with, and empower local Palestinian communities to heal the city through urban planning, economic empowerment, sustainability, and ecology. Expanding on their Bee the Change women’s beekeeping program, Sinsila is launching Work & Hope for Youth in East Jerusalem, a project out of their new Center for Innovation and Service workshop space in Abor Tor. This fellowship for youth and young adults will focus on four training pillars: art & carpentry, design thinking & placemaking, green roofs, and natural beeswax products. Sinsila anticipates expanding to other Palestinian communities in Israel following the success of this pilot program.
